Low Carbon Accelerator is a closed-ended investment company listed on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange (AIM).
Our mission is to provide the capital to accelerate the growth of businesses with products and services that will deliver immediate reductions in carbon dioxide emissions.
At launch in October 2006, Low Carbon Accelerator raised gross proceeds of £44.5 million.
We are now investing the net proceeds of the IPO to acquire significant minority holdings in a diverse portfolio of unquoted private companies providing low carbon products and services. Low Carbon Accelerator's investment focus is on clean energy, cleaner fuels, energy efficiency and building technologies. We focus predominantly on businesses in the UK, Europe and North America.
The fund is managed by Low Carbon Investors Ltd, an experienced management and advisory team with strong sector knowledge, track records of delivering growth and extensive networks of contacts in relevant technology and business sectors.
In recent years, teams in the UK, Europe and worldwide have been working on technologies and business solutions to address the need to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and to reduce the emissions that contribute to climate change. With growing market demand and favourable legislation, those businesses with proven technology, strong management and viable business models are well positioned to scale-up rapidly. These businesses will benefit from the investment and support of a specialised fund with an experienced management and advisory team. Institutional investors can benefit from a specialised fund that provides them with exposure to a group of fast growing companies in a fast growing sector.
We are investing to build a a portfolio of between 30 and 40 companies with a target IRR of 30% and an investment horizon of 3 to 5 years.
